DC RETURNS AS 2014 MONSTER ENERGY SUPERCROSS SPONSOR AND INTRODUCES INNOVATIVE NEW PRIZE

 

DC is proud to announce that they will continue to be the official and exclusive footwear sponsor of the 2014 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, which kicks off its new Championship season on January 4, 2014 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, CA.  In addition to this renewed partnership, DC will introduce the “DEFY CONVENTION LCQ,” an innovative new prize for riders in the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) who go on to win the main event. 

“We’re proud to be back as the sponsor of the 2014 Supercross season and are excited to roll out our new LCQ challenge,” said Jeff Taylor, Senior Vice President of Global Brand and Marketing for DC Shoes.  “There’s nothing better than seeing someone defy convention with a come-from-behind victory.  Supercross already provides an incredible fan experience and the Defy Convention LCQ will give race fans even more to root for.”

The DEFY CONVENTION LCQ will present a new challenge to any rider in the 250 and 450 classes who wins the LCQ. If that rider comes back to win the main event, he will be presented with a check for $10,000 on the spot by DC. Inspired by King of Supercross, Jeremy McGrath, and his 1994 win in this exact scenario, DC recognizes that often the most rewarding victories are the ones that are the most difficult to achieve.

 “This is something that needed to happen,” said McGrath. “I am stoked DC has come up with the LCQ bonus program. It will be a great night if someone can get it done!”

Fans coming to the live Supercross events across the country can expect to see a strong on–site presence from DC including an interactive booth highlighting DC’s history in the sport and its current Motocross team, as well as live social media contest giveaways.
